Yesterday was the Solemnity of Mother Mary Feast day which brings our attention to the motherhood and blessings from our Blessed Virgin.
We can not forget the constant presence of the Blessed Mother in our lives as she prays for us in all of our challenges, fears and shortcomings. She is also always there to celebrate all of our victories.
I feel one of Mary’s main missions, as our heavenly mother, is to love us and to teach us to love ourselves. To bring peace through love. To pray for us in good times and hard times. To keep us safe, nurtured and cared for. Just as all of us mothers want for our children, our Blessed Mother wants the same. Turn to her in times of familial strife or disharmony. She wants God’s peace and the peace surpassing all understanding that her son offers, to bless us unconditionally.
In our humanness of the good, bad and in between, let us hold honor for ourselves and those around us for our journeys. May we embrace our lives with gratitude for whatever shows up to further reveal to us our human and divine nature that is for us not against us. Difficult, uncomfortable or heavenly and amazing, it is all forming who we came here to be. It is a wild ride and with much prayer and surrender, is all here for our highest development and good.
Honoring both our human and divine nature allows us to appreciate our own compassion and our power that comes from the one big love that resides in all living things.
With life as our classroom we can take the pressure off of getting all things right. We can agree to see ourselves evolve with a light hearted perspective and pat on the back. All of us navigating and moving through life, one story at a time, one choice at a time and trying our very best. My Mom who past last February always used to tell me that same thing. She would say “ Terese, all you can do is do the best you possibly can and the Saints can do no more”.
So for the New Year, let’s all agree to love our humanness, our divinity and everyone else’s while we are at it. It is in loving others in their humanness that we are actually loving ourselves as well because we are all one.
Why do they call surrender sweet?
The answer to that question lies in the polarity of surrender.
When we are in resistance, we are in ego or small self. It feels contracted and tight.
We all get an idea that things need to be a certain way in order for us to be happy. We all want what we want or ........ the ego wants what it wants.
If life gives us the opposite of what we want, we immediately go into resistance. It can show up in many forms. Complaining, grumpy and negative attitude, blame, anxiety, depression, rocky relationships, bad habits, distractions, fighting to be right, addictions, busyness, excessive exercise, overeating...... the list goes on.
We short circuit into these forms of resistance until we are either tired of them or we become sick from them.
What we resist will persist!
We cling to these things outside of ourselves because our egos think that is the only way to survive. Ego is looking to these things outside our selves to identify itself. When we turn to surrendering those things, the ego is threatened and will fight back. This is the dark night of the soul.
What would happen if we surrendered our ego's and yielded to spirit? This is a counterintuitive idea but it works. When we are in surrender we are in spirit, presence, consciousness . It feels free and light and easy. There is no inner critic or judge. There is awareness , acceptance and allowing.
In letting go of what we think we need, we find the relief in actually letting it go. In letting go through acceptance of what is, we find peace. We make friends with our true self which is presence and consciousness. Light and love.
In surrender we allow the infinite intelligence to take over. We find true life as we allow that infinite intelligence to guide us. It feels spacious and free.
The resistance is there to bring us into expansion. Just like in childbirth, we contract to expand! This is growth. Growth is any alignment with Love and God in yourself.
Surrender becomes sweet in the relief of letting go and in the final expansion after the contraction
How sweet it is:)
Definition of void: verb:discharge or drain away
noun: ( bridge and whist) a suit in which a player is dealt no cards
Why does God allow the void?
It is in the void where God allows us to struggle with the ego so that we can find the light. We need to be face to face with our misalignment with spirit and truth in the ego in order to receive awareness by grace from our own light within.
You name the multitude of things we think we need so desperately to be ok!
There are many!
One day, if we are blessed and ready, God will bring us to a place whereby we will be faced without that thing we are clinging to for our wholeness so that we can discover our real wholeness. Our wholeness that is our divinity, our true self, our light.
Who are we without that thing?
Do we feel empty, not useful or whole there?
Do we feel restless and uncomfortable?
This is the exact place where we are faced with who we are in God!
We need to become aware of who we truly are as a being not a doer. We need to be detached from all the labels of who our ego defines us to be and to be the pure essence of who we are in Source/God/Christ.
Can we drop the titles, roles and identities for a moment to see that we are whole just as we are right now.? We are light and love in a human body doing the very best that we can.
When we surrender and accept the present moment, void of all except our true, big Self, we can finally see and appreciate ourselves for who we are.
Dropping ego from the void can feel like a death in your soul.If you wait around and watch the stillness, a rebirth will occur.
Do we need to decide finally to step into the authenticity of who we are? Do we need clarity of our essence? Maybe we can just let go of the fear and judgment. Maybe we own our worthiness.
We are worthy because we are here.
Judgment is fear and can not exist in the eyes of the Divine.
Surrender to the greatness of who you already are beloved.
